The latest project of the CDSL is planting güicoy.
During the rainy season the farmers will line a trench with plastic to collect rain so they can use these caches later for irrigation since there is no reliable source of water nearby. When these caches are gone they will need to carry water in backpacks from a source about 15 minutes away.
The planting team is enjoying a well deserved rest and snack:
